Drawing Process
- Drawing the Outline
Drawing clouds in a landscape is about capturing softness, movement, and light rather than outlining rigid shapes. Start by lightly sketching the general masses of the clouds, thinking of them as large, rounded forms that overlap and flow across the sky. Pay attention to the direction of light; clouds are brightest where the light hits and gradually fade into softer, diffused shadows underneath. Use gentle shading and blending to create smooth transitions, avoiding harsh lines so the clouds feel airy and natural. Vary the edges, keeping some soft and lost while others are slightly more defined, and remember to leave areas of the paper untouched for highlights.
